Freshman YearWorkplace Learning I: The first in a series of required workplace learning courses for students in the Early College Studies program. In this course, students focus on the essential skills of communication, collaboration, curiosity, and career exploration.
Intro to Programming (ECS): Introduces students to how corporate software projects are developed, managed, integrated, and fielded. An interface-oriented approach to software development eliminates the need for any prior coding experience. Students will navigate this multi-faceted world following a project-based road map; leave with a significant sense of accomplishment; and, acquire key professional skills after creating apps, games, and control algorithms.

Sophomore YearWorkplace Learning II: The second in a series of required workplace learning courses for students in the Early College Studies program. In this course, students focus on the essential skills of motivation, leadership, self-management, and analytical thinking.
NCC Comp. Science Coursework / Web Development & Design (ECS): Based on student performance throughout freshman year and performance on the NCC Accuplacer Test, students can start their NCC Computer Science coursework during the Summer before or the Fall of their Sophomore Year. If students are not able to place into NCC computer science coursework during their Sophomore year, they will take Web Development & Design (ECS) which is an introductory high school level web design class that will lay the foundation for future NCC coursework. The three introductory NCC computer science courses are Web Development & Design, Database Development and Intro to Programming. Although neither is a prerequisite of the other, students typically follow the courses in the aforementioned sequence. |
Junior Year
:Workplace Learning III (Capstone Project): In the last of the three required Workplace Learning courses, students now demonstrate their ability to work both independently and in teams. Students will work through a design project from conception to completion. This course satisfies the CT one-credit diploma assessment requirement.
NCC Comp. Science Coursework / Other College Electives: In their Junior year, students can either be just starting to take NCC courses or they may even have completed all of their introductory NCC Computer Science courses before they enter their Junior year. Students fill in their high school schedules with available NCC coursework as it becomes available. |
Senior YearNCC Comp. Science Coursework / Other College Electives: Students who are looking to complete their Associate's Degree by the time they graduate high school will typically spend their senior year at NCC fulltime. Students who are looking to complete their Associate's Degree in five or six years, will take a combination of classes at Stamford High School and NCC.
